Beautiful Mocha Opal sphere from Madagascar. This type of Opal is also sometimes known as Black Opal or Coffee Bean Opal. It is a relatively new find.
This sphere is approximately 55mm in diameter and weighs approximately 250g.

Opal is a silica mineral, very like quartz, but it is like obsidian in that it has has no crystal structure and it has lots of water within.
