Hathor is an ancient Egyptian Goddess with many aspects. The Temple of Hathor at Dendera is one of the most famous sites dedicated to her worship.

Hathor is a Sun Goddess who sprang from the right hand of the Creator Sun God Ra at the beginning of creation. She is the 'Lady of Heaven' - also the most prominent of the 'Seven Hathors' - Hathor, Mehit, Selket, Nephthys, Isis, Neith, and Serket - who hold the many aspects of the divine feminine including fertility, motherhood, protection, and the cycle of life and death. 

Hathor is celebrated as a symbol of divine feminine energy, of love, nurturing and creativity and is often shown with symbols of fertility and rebirth. She also carries the sistrum - a musical instrument - and is associated with dance, joy, sexuality, ecstasy. 

She is thought of as a cow goddess, and associated with the Milky Way, and is sometimes depicted with a cow head. Alternatively, she is shown with a headdress of cow horns and a sun disk.

She is linked with Osiris, god of the afterlife and of resurrection, in assisting souls on their journey after death.

 She is linked with Horus, the falcon headed god, who was concerned with kingship and protection and in early texts is described as his mother.

She is one of the earliest Egyptian goddesses who blends links earthly and cosmic qualities and brings love, compassion, joy and protection.
